Nathan Adler concentrates his practice in the areas of civil and commercial litigation.  Nathan has had substantial experience in complex commercial litigation in federal, state and appellate courts.  He has represented clients in a wide variety of disputes, including commercial lease disputes; estate litigation; mechanic’s lien claims; litigation against, and tax controversies involving, the Internal Revenue Service; real estate disputes; business break-ups; and contract disputes.  Nathan has defended multi-line automobile dealerships, one of the nation's leading providers of consumer electronics, and one of the three major credit reporting agencies in numerous consumer tort actions.  Nathan has also represented major shopping malls in disputes with commercial tenants; a major shopping mall in a construction dispute with its builder; a luxury hotel in a dispute with a tenant; a tenant in a dispute with a regional public university; the builder of a three story office building in a construction dispute with its owner; a family in a wrongful death action against a regional hospital; defended businesses from premises liabilities claims asserted by patrons; senior housing cooperatives in claims involving residents and employees; and clients before the NASD in arbitrations involving suitability and securities fraud claims.

 

Nathan has also co-authored several books about, and lectures on, commercial and residential landlord/tenant litigation and leasing issues for the National Business Institute and Lorman Education Services.

 

Nathan has achieved Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards.


Nathan is an honors graduate of the Johns Hopkins University.  While at Hopkins, Nathan was on the Dean’s List and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  Nathan graduated, with honors, from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he received awards for the highest grades in Torts and Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution.
 

Nathan will present “Evictions in Maryland: Residential and Commercial” on February 20, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Selection in Timonium, Maryland. Mr. Adler will present guidelines for terminating commercial and residential leases. Additional topics that will be covered include, current legal developments, planning ahead to avoid problems with tenants, what to do when a tenant abandons the premises, landlord and tenant rights and obligations and associated bankruptcy issues.
